Mosaic Safety Equipment
Your safety equipment is very important while creating your mosaics. When cutting or smashing your tiles into little pieces, gluing and then grouting your finished mosaics you will need safety equipment.
The essentials include protective eyewear used when cutting or smashing your tiles into little pieces known as
tesserae.
These little pieces can fly up to your face and eyes causing injury.
Mouth and nose filters are used when mixing your grout. The dust produced can be very harmful to your lungs.
Gloves are used when cutting and grouting tiles. Some grouts can be very corrosive so gloves are very important here. Fresh cut tiles are also very sharp, gloves will protect your hands from these nasty cuts.
Finally I have aprons or smocks to protect clothing and I also like to use knee pads when I happen to be down on my knees for a long period of time installing and then grouting my mosaics.
