Paul, I forgot to answer your question about how big the mermaid mosaic is. It is approx. 2 1/2 feet by about 17 inches. I kind of forget. But it is pretty big.

Thank you for your kind comments.
How I make the clay shapes: I just roll out some clay in the shape I want, such as a bird.
Then I fire it in the kiln.
Then I glaze it the colors I want. (The kiln and glazes are tricky, sometimes the colors aren't exactly what I think they will look like!)
It's nice to incorporate clay figures in the mosaics.
