Lazy Susan Medium

The bug has bitten me and I love to mosaic.
I do however need some hints and tips to finish off my pieces.
This one is another, smaller Lazy Susan I made and finished it with Pratley's Resin. I taped the edges off so that that resin does not drip off the sides. However it hardened and left a border which is not very pretty. It was supposed to be self-levelling but that did not work since it ran off the board like oil. Has anyone got any tips for me to finish off my works of art?
